Let the no. be x

 \frac{x}{3}  + 5 = 8

 \frac{x + 15}{3}  = 8

x + 15 = 8 \times 3

x + 15 = 24

x = 24 - 15 \:  =  \: 9

Answer:

9

Step-by-step explanation:

The answer is 9 because we took the unknown number as x

so x/3+5=8

and then we subtract 5 from 8 or you can subtract 5 from both side

now when we have x/3=3

we will either multiple both numbers or multiply the RHS 3

and now we have 9 as are answer
