Concentration of the Acid solution whose pH=5 is 1 X 10^-5 N

When 1ml.of this solution is diluted to 2000 ml.(2 liters),the concentration of the final solution is

1 X 0.00001=2000 x N

So N =0.00001 x1/2000 = 5 x10-9 N

So the concentration of the final solution will be =( 1 x10-7)+(5 x10-9) N

Because the acidic solution will contain, besides it's H+ions, an addition of 1 x10-7.

So the final concentration=10–7 x (1 +0.01)

=10–7 x 1.01

pH=-log(1.01 x10-7) = 6.99567

So the solution will be very slightly acidic with a pH =6.99567.

Ok.
