when 12 v battery is connected across an unknown resister there is a current of 2.5 mA in a circuit . find the value of the resistance of the resistor

Answer :

Voltage of battery = 12 volt

Current flow = 2.5 mA

We have to find resistance of the resistor.

★ Resistance of resistor can be calculated by using concept of ohm's law.

As per ohm's law : At constant temperature, current flow in a conductor is directly proportional to the applied potential difference.

  • V ∝ I

Putting proportionality constant,

  • V = I × R

R denotes resistance

V denotes voltage

I denotes current

Conversion :

1000 mA = 1 A

• 2.5 mA = 2.5/1000 = 0.0025A

By substituting the given values,

➠ V = I × R

➠ 12 = 0.0025 × R

➠ R = 12/0.0025

R = 4800 Ω
