total wt. of hydrated salt is 2.46g. wt. of anhydrous salt =1.20g here we have 2.46/y =1.20/120. where y= M.M of hydrated salt ,, we get y= 246g here we have again. 2.46/246 = 1.26/x×18. x=7 so formula is MgSO4.7H2O
