H2 + O2 forms 2H20.

The mole-mole relationship of H2 and O2 is 1:1.

Therefore, 1 mol of H2 requires 1 mol of O2.

Similarly, 2 mol of H2 requires 2 mol of O2.

Here, only 1.5 mol of O2 is present. Therefore O2 acts as the limiting reagent. H2 automatically becomes the excess reagent and has 0.5 mol in excess.
