When 200 g of limestone is strongly heated, it undergoes thermal decomposition to form 112 gram of lime and unknown mass of carbon dioxide gas. What will be the mass of CO₂ formed?

CaCO3 will decompose into CaO and CO2. Mass of CaCO3 given to us is 200 grams. Mass of CaO given to us is 112 grams. By law of conservation of mass mass of reactants = mass of products So mass of CO2 = 200-112=88 grams.
