SOLUTION

TO DETERMINE

The remainder when 3x³ - 10x² + 13x - 6 is divided by x - 2

EVALUATION

Let f(x) = 3x³ - 10x² + 13x - 6

g(x) = x - 2

For Zero of the polynomial g(x)

g(x) = 0

⇒ x - 2 = 0

⇒ x = 2

So by the required Remainder when f(x) is divided by g(x) is

= f(2)

= 3 × (2)³ - 10 × (2)² + 13 × (2) - 6

= 24 - 40 + 26 - 6

= 4
