When 4.0 moles of oxygen are confined in a 12 liter vessel at 177 C the pressure is 6.0 atm. If the oxygen is allowed to expand isothermally until is occupied 24 liters , what will be the new pressure ?

expanding in isothermal behavior means there is no loss in temperature.......

now simply using,PV=NRT

P×12=4×R×(273+177)

3P=450R

P=150R=150×8.314=1247.1

now, when volume become 24litre then pressure

P×24=4×R×450

P=450R/6

P=75×8.314=623.55

hence the pressure is decreases to 623.55
