Given :  4 − 6xy + x²y² is divided by 4 + xy

To Find :  quotient

Solution:

Dividend = Divisor x Quotient + remainder

Division algorithm :

Stop the division if remainder is zero or degree of remainder is less than quotient

f(x) = g(x)q(x) + r(x)

r(x)= 0  or degree of r(x) less than degree of g(x)

4 − 6xy + x²y² is divided by 4 + xy

Dividend = 4 − 6xy + x²y²

Divisor = 4 + xy

Using Long Division

                          xy  - 10

    4 + xy        )   4 − 6xy + x²y²  (

                               4xy  + x²y²

                       ____________

                        4  - 10xy

                       -40 - 10xy

                     _________

                         44

Quotient is      xy  - 10

Remainder = 44

None of the given options are correct
