Given information,

5 is added to thrice a number, we obtain 49.

We have to find out the number.

Let, The number is x.

We can write given information as,

5 + 3x = 49

Shift 5 to right it becomes -5

3x = 49 - 5

3x = 44

Divide both sides by b3 we get

x = 14.66

Hence,

The value of the number is 14.66 .

Solution :

  • As per given data we know that when 5 is added to thrice a number, we obtain 49.
  • Let , original number be x .
  • Then as per given condition we write as,

        5 + 3x = 49

  • Using transposition method we find the value of x .  By transposing constants at RHS and leaving variable at LHS .
