let the number be x
according to the problem:-
x-80=(60/100)x
x-(60/100)x=80
(2/5)x=80
2x=80 ×5
x=400/2
=200.

Let the number be x.
80 subtracted from x=x - 80.
60% of x= \frac{60}{100} of x
= \frac{3}{5} of x
= \frac{3x}{5}
Therefore, by the condition ,
x - 80 =   \frac{3x}{5}
⇒5(x - 80)=3x
⇒5x - 400=3x
⇒5x - 3x=400
⇒2x=400
⇒x= \frac{400}{2} =200.
Ans:The required number is 200.
