When a ball is let free fall from the top of building. What is the acceleration and what its sign?

The accelleration eill be very close to 9.8m/s/s downwards towards Earth. Accelleration is a vector, so speaking of a sign doesn't really make sene, unless you plot it into a defined coordinate system.

In a free fall acceleration is due to gravity which is 9.8m/sec^2

and it increases the velocity so it is positive
