When a body hanging to a spring balance is immeresed in liquid, the factor due to which the reading of spring balance will decrease is BUOYANCY.
When we immerse an object in liquid, an upward force (upthrust) acts on the object, which decreases the weight of object (not mass).
So, because of BUOYANCY, reading of spring balance will decrease.
