The time taken by body to reach the maximum height h₁ is t₁.

Thus the body reaches to maximum height in t₁ and will fall back in the same time . The initial velocity at the highest point is zero .

Thus the equation for displacement

s = u t + 1/2 g t² . Because the body is falling from above initial velocity u = 0

Thus h₁ = 1/2 g t₁²

Similarly  h₂ = 1/2 g t₂²

Dividing these two , we have

h₁/h₂ = t₁²/t₂²   or  t₁/t₂ = \sqrt{h_{1}/h_{2}
