when a body is thrown upward
initial velocity=u and final velocity =0
when a body is dropped from a height
initial vel.=0 and final vel.=v
when a body is thrown from a height (downward)
initial vel.=u and final vel.=0
please correct if i'm wrong.

In first case final velocity is zero at maximum height.
in second case final velocity is not zero it is v
In thurd case initial velocity is zero but final is v.
