The gravitational force is always towards the surface present below. There are multiple gravitational forces acting, There might be gravitational force acting between the objvet flying in the sky and an animal flying in the sky and the object and the Earth, as Earth's gravitational pull is larger , we cannot feel the other Gravitational forces. So, the gravitational force acting on an object flying in the sky is in the downwards direction.
