when a body moving with a speed 40m/s stops in 20 sec, what is the acceleration​

Given :

➳ Initial speed = 40m/s

➳ Time of journey = 20s

➳ Final speed = zero

To Find :

➨ Acceleration of body.

Concept :

➠ Acceleration is defined as the rate of change in speed.

➠ It is a vector quantity having both magnitude as well as direction.

➠ It can be positive, negative or zero.

➠ SI unit : m/s²

Calculation :

⇒ a = (v - u)/t

⇒ a = (0 - 40)/20

⇒ a = -40/20

a = -2m/s²

[Note : -ve sign of a shows retardation.]
