The nature of the lens is diverging.

• There are two types of lens, according to the nature of the lens ;

1) converging lens or the convex lens.

2) diverging lens or the concave lens.

• Now,the reduced image (as compared with the main object) is only possible when we use a concave lens.

• And,the nature of a concave lens is obviously diverging.

• So,only a diverging lens will produce smaller images than the real objects.
