Given :

  • Surface area of Box = 2m²
  • Pressure exerted = 400 Pa
  • Force applied = ???

To Find :

The force applied of the box to produce a pressure of 400 Pa

Formula To Be applied :

We will use the formula of pressure:

pressure = Force/Area

And slightly modify it to :

Force = Pressure × Area

To Be done :

By using the formula above stated, we will substitute the values of pressure and Area, and find the Force applied.

Let's Go

Solution :

Given, Pressure applied = 400 Pa

Surface area of contact = 2m²

Hence, Force = Pressure × Area

or, Force = 400×2

or, Force = 800 N

Hence, the Force Applied on the box = 800N

Some formulas regarding dynamics

  • Force = Mass × Acceleration

1] This can be reframed by taking the formula of Acceleration as

  • Force = m × (v-u)/t

This formula again can be reframed as :

  • Force = (mv-mu)/t

2] the pressure is defined as the Force acting upon it in unit area , the formula of pressure is :

  • Pressure = Force/area

3] Impulse is The Force which is applied for a known time , the formula of Impulse is :

  • Impulse = Force×time

4] Work done is the displacement done after a certain Force is applied on the body, The formula of Force is:

  • Work done = Force×displacement

5] Power is the work in unit time, the formula of Power is :

  • Power = work/time

  • Acceleration = (v-u)/t

  • Hydrostatic Pressure = depth×density×Gravity
