when a bullet strikes a glass panel it penetrates it while when a ball or stone hits it, crakes are seen on glass panel. What's the reason behind this?

The bullet penetrates inside because it has a very small surface area. We are sure that smaller surface area means lesser pressure . But when we look into the case a stone , the surface sre is more . It results in molre pressure and thus , cracks are seen .

The velocity of stone is much less than that of bullet fired from a gun.Due to its low speed the stone remains in contact with with a glass panel for a longer time and hence the motion is shared by whole of glass panrl.
But , the bullet fired from a gun remain in contact with glass panel for small time that it share its motion only with a portion of a glasd panel.Therefore it makes a clean hole in the glass panel.
