u = 10m/s

v = 0. [cat comes to rest]

t = 20s

a = ?

Hence,by using :- v = u + at

0 = 10 + a × 20

0 = 10 + 20a

-10 = 20a

a = -2 m/s^2. [negative sign indicates retartdation]

hence,the retardation is 2m/s^2.

hope it helps you!!!
