Answer: Acceleration is the rate of change of velocity.

As The car's rate of change of position is decreasing. The car is moving but its rate of position increase is coming down.

The car will eventually come to a brief stop and begin traveling backward.

When a car's velocity is positive and its acceleration is negative, then in that case the speed of the car continuously decreases while the direction of motion of the car remains the same.

→ Positive velocity of the car signifies that the current direction of the motion of the car is the same as the original direction of motion.

The negative acceleration of the car signifies that the change of speed of the car is negative. Which means that the car is either slowing or braking down. The speed of the car is continuously decreasing while its direction of motion remains the same.

→ If this negative acceleration continues to act on the car then this will eventually lead the car to stop.
