Incomplete combustion of coal gives carbon monoxide gas. It is a very poisonous gas. It is dangerous to burn coal in a closed room. The carbon monoxide gas produced can kill persons sleeping in that room.

carbon fuels which form from mainly hydragen and carbon elements are called hydrocarbons. These hydrocarbons, if share a single electron with carbon then they are saturated hydrocarbons, and if are bonded with other elements (like chlorine, bromine, iodine, etc) then they are called unsaturated hydrocarbons.

these hydrocarbons, when burnt in insufficient amount of air cause in realise of carbon monoxide. this gas is very dangerous for living beings and cause many deaths. hence it is dangerous to stay there.
