the two cells are similar because we know that all cells arise from pre- existing cell but they are not identical because their genetic codes and composition of heredity information are different.

In Sexual reproduction, both parents are involved so there is a lot of variation in the parents and the offsprings. Because chromosomes from both the organisms come together and they produce a different look in the offspring. Not totally different, they look similar to the parents but there is variation.
In asexual reproduction, the replicated cells are similar and identical, still there is always a very very minute variation. This is due to the inefficiency in DNA copying. But still we call both the cells to be similar.
