answered Oct 12, 2017. When a cell reproduces,its DNA is copied and passed on to the offspring.DNA copying is an important step in the process of reproduction as DNA is the blue-print of the body design of the offspring.

During cell division the DNA which is a two strands helical structure splits into two which then forms its compliment and hence the no. of DNA gets doubled !!
