When a charged rod is brought close to a conducting metal of any shape, is the magnitude of charge induced on the metal same as that of on the rod?

in general the charge on the conductor will not have the same magnitude as the charge on the rod the reason is that not all field lines from the rod will end on charges on the conductor but go to infinity or to other nearby charger the closer the rod is placef near the conductor the higher the inducedcharge on a conductor will be.....
