When a coordination compound NiCl₂. 6H₂O is mixed with AgNO₃, it gives 2 mole of AgCl, therefore the structural formula would contain 2 Cl⁻ ions satisfying primary valency and while 5 H₂O molecule and 1 Cl⁻ ions are present in the coordination sphere. 1 H₂O molecule will be present as molecule of hydration.
1) structural formula = [NiCl(H₂O)₅]Cl₂.H₂O
2) IUPAC name = Pentaqua Nickel Chlorido(II) chloride
