Answer:
A p-n junction diode when forward biased has a voltage drop of 0.5 volt which is assumed to be independent of current. The current in excess of 10 mA through the diode produces a large joule heating which damage the diode.

When the forward bias is applied the following change happens.
- When the forward bias is there in pn junction it reduces the potential barrier.
- The reduction is due to the flow of the majority carriers from the depletion region to the flow in the circuit.
- As the positive terminal is at p type and negative is applied at n type terminal.
- So, as the majority carriers will start flowing then only minority carriers are there in depletion region.
