Kinetic energy increases because when the object falls with having potential energy, it's potential energy is converted into kinetic energy... KE would be maximum when it reaches the ground... In support of conservation of energy during free fall

Ans:

We know that energy can neither be created nor be destroyed. It can only be transformed from one form to another.

When an object falls freely, its potential energy gets converted into kinetic energy and when the object hits the ground its kinetic energy gets converted into heat energy and sound energy.
