I... don't know exactly..
but as far as I've read in the book 'Life after death'.
The author told that at the end of her skin cancer surgery, when it was believed that she is no longer alive, she proceeded for a life after death.
(although her soul came back to her body after seeing her family shattering.)
She wrote that the life after death is immensely beautiful. The ray of hope, the atmosphere she was in , was really mesmerizing. She explained that no soul would ever want to leave that place for a life back on Earth.
By that information..it's likely possible that life after death is really beautiful. Where your soul is set free to wander around and you are free from every negative energy.
Every wrong deed we do, is paid back by us in our own respective life also called the concept of Karma.
Every small act you do, Determines your future.
Hence, after you are done with all your karma acts, your soul is proceeded to heaven.
