a) When matter goes from liquid state to gaseous state then the kinetic energy in molecules increase therefore in gaseous phase molecules tend to be at larger distance.

Hence we can say that when matter goes from one state to another state KINETIC ENERGY of the matter changes.

b) When we increase the temperature liquid converts into gaseous phase or when we decrease the temperature liquid converts into solid.

Therefore, yes temperature also changes when matter goes from one phase to another phase.

Hope it helps.
