when a metal x is treaded with cold water it gives a basic salt Y with molecular formula XOH and liberates a gas Z also write the reaction involved???

when a metal x (sodium) is treated with cold water it gives a basic salt y (NaOH)

an librates the gas Z (hydrogen gas)

the chemical reaction involved above is :-

2Na+H2O------------> 2NaOH+H2+heat energy
