when a metallic Block with hole in it is heated why does not the material around the hole expand into the wall and make it smaller​

When a metallic block with a hole of radius “R” is heated than the kinetic energy of the molecules is increase than the molecules will start colliding at high amplitude as a result the block expand in all dimensions including the dimension of hole. Expansion is more like stretching.It is not growing of extra material.
