Remember this line always "Frequency is the characteristic of the source". So whichever medium the light enters, frequency will not change.

When the monochromatic light passes from vacuum to medium there is no difference in frequency. Because whichever medium light enters there is no change in its frequency change in medium leads to change in velocity.

Velocity = Frequency X Wavelength.

Since frequency is constant and velocity varies the wavelength will also vary according to medium. Change in wavelength nullifies the equation with change in velocity. Internal reflections result in change in intensity too.
