The nerve impulse travels in form of electrons jumping though the nerve cell and from one neuron to another through neurotransmitters ( Such as Acetylcholine, Adrenaline, Noradrenalne, Serotonin, etc). In case of neuron to muscle transmission, Acetylcholine is released at the neuro-muscular junction. This causes contraction of the muscle fibers which are present within the muscle cells. They are Actin(thin filaments) and Myosin(thick filaments) fibers which cross over each other and causes the contraction of muscle.
