Let the number = x

According to the problem given, we get

x - 4 = 80% of x

=> x - 4 = ( 80/100 )x

=> x - 4 = (4x/5)

=> 5( x - 4 ) = 4x

=> 5x - 20 = 4x

=> 5x - 4x = 20

=> x = 20

Therefore ,

Required number ( x ) = 20
