Here we are talking about Newton's Third Law Of Motion. It states that for every action there is an equal and opposite reaction.
Here, "action" means the initial force applied by the first body on the second body and "reaction" means the force applied by the second body as a response to the force of first body!!!
When a person jumps off a boat they push the boat backward with their feet. Since the boat is in water, the water yields under the impact of force, therefore, the boat slides back in water.
