When a person jumps from a boat to the shore the boat moves back wards why

This happens because when the person jumps from the boat he pushes down with his legs and as there is no other strong reaction force to counter his push so the boat moves backwards in the water.

This happens according to the newtons 3rd law of motion which states that the action and reaction are equal and opposite.
So the man jumps from a boat to the shore(action) by applying force on the boat in the backwards .
The boat also applies an equal and opposite force on the man (reaction)
