When a person leaves his home for sightseeing by his car, the meter reads 12352km. When he returns home after two hours the reading is 12416km. a) What is the average speed of car during this period? b) What is the average velcoity ? heya.....
(a) Total distance covered 12416 – 12352 = 64 km in 2 hours. Speed = 64/2 = 32 km/h
(b) As he returns to his house, the displacement is zero. Velocity. = (displacement / time) = 0 (zero).

Solution :
a)Initial odometer reading : 12352km
Final odometer reading =12416km
Total distance travelled= Final reading - Initial Reading
=12416-12352
=64km
time =2hrs
Average speed of car= Total distance ./ Time
=64/2=32km /hr
b) Average velocity of car= displacement / time
In this case, displacement is zero as the car reaches the same point [ source=destination
Therefore Average velocity is =0/2h=0
