When a ray of light passes from optically denser to rarer medium then it will bends away from normal line or perpendicular line .

● Reason - In optically denser medium atoms are closely packed while in rarer medium they have some intramolecular spaces . therefore speed of light is less in denser medium and more in rarer medium .

☆Now , when light passes through denser to rarer medium it's speed readily increases and therefore , it bends away from normal .
