When a solid melts , the heat supplied to it (by Bunsen burner) is used up to overcome the force of attraction of particles of solid... so that it becomes a liquid. The heat is absorbed by the solid particles so that it's kinetic energy increases and that it can act as a liquid. The name given to this heat is 'Latent Heat of Fusion'.
