The Extensive Property of matter is found in the following example.
- A property that is dependent on the amount of matter in a sample is known as an extensive property. The extensive property includes mass and volume.
- When a stone is dipped in water, the level of water rises as the stone is matter and it has some mass and volume.
- When we drop a stone in water the displacement of water occurs equivalent to the volume of stone.
- When the stone gets settled at the bottom of the water it occupies the space of the water thus displacing the water molecules hence the level of water gets increased.
Therefore the water level rises when a stone is dipped.
