We know that an electric current is a flow of electrons.
When moving through a conductor, the electrons must overcome a resistance; in metallic conductors, this resistance comes from collisions between atoms.
If the passage is clear and fluid the particles will travel orderly, they will have little strength.
On the contrary, if the path is too narrow or too long, the electrons will crowd together and collide with each other, producing, besides, a lot of heat; a high resistance opposes them.
