When a Supreme Court Justice disagrees with majority opinion, the Justice is ‘dissenting’.

'Dissenting' is expression of disagreement by one or more judges, against the majority opinion of the Court, which leads to a judgement. This opinion of the minority is also referred to as ‘Minority Report’.

The dissent can over a period of time, convince or influence the majority of the Court and cause the original decision to be overruled.
