when a tuning fork (vibrating) is held close to ear, one hears a faint hum. The same (vibrating tuning fork) is held such that its stem is in contact with the table surface ,then one hears a loud sound. Explain​

Sound travels faster in solid in comparison to liquid and vacuum. So, here when we brought the tuning fork in atmosphere near our ear, then it's sound was faint.

But when tuning fork's stem is held in contact with table surface that is solid, than one hears a loud sound.
