So when the Y chromosome fertilises the egg that is X , there are certain gene loci which have alternative forms that is to say there are alleles present for eg , the gene for eye on mother(X) says that the eyeball ( iris ) is black but on the father (Y) says it s blue , black being dominant ,black is expressed , only in case of linked genes where crossing over is not likely these characteristic or features depend on the father .
