Answer:

If a battery is connected to a load resistance, we expect terminal voltage to increase if load resistance increases. The effect of increasing load resistance is to decrease load current. Since load current decreases, the internal voltage drop also decreases, so the terminal voltage approaches the ideal (no-load) battery voltage
