when air is bubbled through pure water, the pH value of water drops from 7.0 to 5.6 .Which gas is responsible for this change??

Yes. The pH value of water could dropped due to a reversible reaction between water and carbondioxide which leads to formation of carbonic acid.


Carbondioxide gas is responsible for change in pH. So, more the presence of CO2 in air, more the drop in pH value of water air bubble.
