Nanda Dynasty ruled India at the time when Alexander, the Great was trying to fight with the rulers in the north west part of India. To be specific ,the ruler was Dhannand, the last ruler of this dynasty .
Elaboration :)
Nandas : Fabulously rich and extremely powerful.
Ruled India from BC 364 to 321.
Were the most powerful leaders of Magadha Kingdom.
Maintained the army of 2 lac Infantry,60000 Cavalry & 6000 war elephants.
Had effective taxation system to maintain this huge army.
Most powerful ruler was Mahapadma Nanda.
What happened to the parts of India which Alexander had conquered?
After Alexander's death, these parts came under the reign of Greek ruler Seleucus Nicator.
He ruled up to 305 BC in the areas West of the river Indus.
But then in 305 BC Chandragupta attacked him and the treaty was made in BC 303 under which the territories governed and trade routes controlled by Seleucus were ceded to Chandragupta and he got 500 elephants in return.
Also, the marriage alliance was made between them(most probably between Chandragupta and Seleucus' daughter),Though all sources not conform it.
