WHEN ALUMINIUM IS IN AIR IT FORM A LAYER OF ITS OXIDE OF 10^-4 TO 10^-6 mm

WHEN IT IS RUBBED THE OXIDE LAYER IS REMOVED

AND IT LOOKS BLACK DUE TO SMUT.

IT DOES NOT REFLECT LIGHT SO WELL.
